eXCLUSIVE jACKET

Ah... the rural escape. Back to the country idyll of knitting your own honey, raising feral children in hard-boiled cat-fur dirndls, and settling down to a life of utter poverty as the buildings — and your equity — collapse around you. Well, that's my dream, anyway. (I'll take London and a couple weeks vacation for the time being.) Either way, the garment for you is a Barbour jacket, of either the Beaufort or the Bedale variety, and you can buy it new — even new, it offers the pleasing promise of imminent decline — or vintage, with eBay finds having even more musty authenticity and dilapidation but at a reduced price. (Here's the one I just picked up online.)
Or you can get the best of both worlds with the pre-aged but brand-new Barbour International, made specially for J. Crew to celebrate the iconic jacket's seventy-fifth anniversary. Classic olive, old snaps, Union Jacks — it's all there, but it's here (and in the January issue of Esquire) on display for the first time.
